malfunction enzyme depletion results in the appearance of cells with compact nucleoids, septa formed over the DNA and anucleate cells. Enzyme-depleted cells also show increased septal recruitment of the DNA translocase SpoIIIE, presumably to resolve chromosome segregation defects.
