Show all pathways known for 1.14.13.122Display the word mapDisplay the reaction diagram Show all sequences 1.14.13.122malfunction rice mutant pale green leaf (pgl) exhibits a lower chlorophyll content with a reduced and disorderly thylakoid ultrastructure, which decreases the photosynthesis rate and results in reduced grain yield and quality compared to the wild-type. In addition, mutant pgl exhibits premature senescence in both natural and dark-induced conditions and more severe chlorophyll degradation and reactive oxygen species accumulation than does the wild-type. Mutant pgl is sensitive to heat stress. The pgl plants exhibit a pale-green leaf in the paddy field and present a severe withered phenotype in the leaf tip 745467
Show all pathways known for 1.14.13.122Display the word mapDisplay the reaction diagram Show all sequences 1.14.13.122malfunction the yellow-green leaf (ygl) mutant phenotype is caused by mutation of the gene which encodes a chlorophyll a oxygenase in maize (ZmCAO1). A 51 bp Popin transposon insertion in ZmCAO1 strongly disrupts its transcription. Reduced enzyme activity of ZmCAO1 leads to reduced concentrations of chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b, resulting in the yellow-green leaf phenotype of the ygl mutant. The net photosynthetic rate, stomatal conductance, and transpiration rate are decreased in the ygl mutant, while concentrations of delta-aminolevulinic acid (ALA), porphobilinogen (PBG) and protochlorophyllide (Pchlide) are increased. In addition, a ZmCAO1 mutation results in downregulation of key photosynthetic genes, limits photosynthetic assimilation, and reduces plant height, ear size, kernel weight, and grain yield. Furthermore, the zmcao1 mutant shows enhanced reactive oxygen species production leading to sensitivity to waterlogging. Pleiotropy of ZmCAO1 function in photosynthesis, grain yield, and waterlogging tolerance in maize 765159

Show all pathways known for 1.14.13.122Display the word mapDisplay the reaction diagram Show all sequences 1.14.13.122physiological function chlorophylls function in photosynthesis and are critical to plant developmental processes and responses to environmental stimuli. Chlorophyll b is synthesized from chlorophyll a by chlorophyll a oxygenase (CAO). Chlorophyll a oxygenase 1 gene ZmCAO1 contributes to grain yield and waterlogging tolerance in maize, and the corresponding YGL gene is associated with the development of ear traits and grain yield. ZmCAO1 is involved in the regulation of photosystem, light-harvesting, and the development of endosperm and embryo, large set of genes is involved in photosynthesis and development of kernels 765159
Show all pathways known for 1.14.13.122Display the word mapDisplay the reaction diagram Show all sequences 1.14.13.122physiological function enzyme overexpression results in increased chlorophyll b synthesis and a decreased chlorophyll a/b ratio in low light-grown as well as high light-grown tobacco plants. This effect, however, is more pronounced in high light. Enzyme overexpression affects the chlorophyll biosynthetic flux by modulating the gene and protein expression of several other chlorophyll biosynthetic pathway enzymes (i.e. Mg-protoporphyrin IX:S-adenosyl-Met methyltransferase) 728515
Show all pathways known for 1.14.13.122Display the word mapDisplay the reaction diagram Show all sequences 1.14.13.122physiological function PGL, encoding chlorophyllide a oxygenase 1, impacts leaf senescence and indirectly affects grain yield and quality in rice. The enzyme is required for the light-dependent Chl synthesis during greening of etiolated plants. PGL might also affects the ROS scavenging system under low light 745467
