The expression of 6-4 photolyase in F1 interspecies hybrids appears to be about 3-4fold above the parental line expression in the skin and eyes. In the brain and gill, the F1 interspecies hybrid 6-4 photolyase expression is similar to that of Xiphophorus couchianus, and both the F1 and Xiphophorus couchianus exhibit a greater than 5fold higher basal expression in the heart compared to Xiphophorus maculatus. The 6-4 photolyase becomes dramatically dysregulated in testis compared to either parent exhibiting substantial upregulated basal expression (over 30fold compared to Xiphophoruscouchianus and over 50fold for Xiphophorus maculatus). Liver shows much reduced 6-4 basal expression Xiphophorus maculatus
