hepatocyte 24h culture, both enzyme and NOS-2 activity depend strongly on extracellular L-arginine concentrations. Competing for L-arginine influx by addition of L-lysine results in 60-70% inhibition of enzyme. Addition of enzyme inhibitor L-valine to cells leads to 80-90% decrease in enzyme activity and 25% increase in NOS-2 activity Rattus norvegicus
