physiological function INPP4a is secreted by airway epithelial cells and extracellular INPP4A critically inhibits airway inflammation and remodeling. INPP4A is present in blood and broncho-alveolar lavage fluid and is reduced in asthma patients. Cultured airway epithelial cells secrete enzymatically active INPP4A in extracellular vesicles and in a free form.
