Arabidopsis thaliana isoforms PAE4 and PAE2 are expressed in response to biotic stress, including biotrophic and necrotrophic fungi penetration including Botrytis cinerea, Hyaloperonospora arabidopsis, and Phytophthora infestans. Isoform PAE2 is highly induced in response to osmotic stress and to a certain extent to salt stress. In roots, PAE4 expression is slightly over-expressed in response to salt stress as is isoform PAE8 up
