physiological function | the gene product of CPSIT_0959 is expressed midcycle and secreted into the infected cellular cytoplasm via the type III secretion system. Recombinant CPSIT_0959 protein possesses cysteine desulfurase and PLP-binding activity, and helps chlamydial replication. CPSIT_0959 protein improves the infectivity of offspring elementary bodies and seems to promote the replication by its product, which is inhibited by PLP-dependent enzymes inhibitors. CPSIT_0959 protein increases expression of Bim and tBid, and decreases the mitochondrial membrane potential of host mitochondria to induce apoptosis in the late cycle for release of offspring | Chlamydia psittaci |
