acidomycin acidomycin inhibits biotin synthesis through the competitive inhibition of biotin synthase BioB and also stimulates unproductive cleavage of S-adenosyl-L-methionine to generate the toxic metabolite 5'-deoxyadenosine. Acidomycin selectively accumulates in Mycobycterium tuberculosis. The development of spontaneous resistance by Mycobacterium tuberculosis to acidomycin is difficult, and only low-level resistance to acidomycin is observed by overexpression of BioB Mycobacterium tuberculosis
