EC Tree
IUBMB Comments
An ATP-binding cassette (ABC) type transporter found in insects that transports guanine and other purines into pigment granules in the eye, where they are converted to pteridine pigments. The transporter is a hererodimer composed of two different peptides, each containing one membrane-spanning and one cytoplasmic ATP-binding domain. In Drosophila, this transporter is encoded by the white and brown genes.
