The enzyme, characterized from the plants Punica granatum (pomegranate) and Trichosanthes kirilowii (Mongolian snake-gourd), converts a single cis double bond at position 12 of linoleate incorporated into phosphatidylcholine into conjugated 11-trans and 13-cis double bonds. cf. EC 1.14.19.33, Delta12 acyl-lipid conjugase (11E,13E-forming).
